Legal Index

The laws of the Commonwealth are formally issued as proclamations by the Sovereign, on the advice of Parliament. They come in several instruments with the most powerful being Imperial Statutes, which are quasi-constitutional in nature and scope. Internal traditions and unwritten conventions are held in strong esteem as well, and are not lightly discarded.
Below Imperial Statutes, which are issued by the Sovereign in granting His assent to specific Acts-of-Parliament, are a range of instruments issued directly by the Sovereign, without Parliamentary advice, but according to prescriptions set out by Statute and common law: Imperial Charters, for the creation and governance of significant organisations; Letters-Patent, for the creation or alteration of some right or special dignity; and Writs-of-Citizenship, Writs-of-Arms, and Writs-of-Award. Orders-in-Council have force second only to that of Statutes, and exist to fill in gaps between laws, or to clarify legal ambiguities. They are generally only issued on advice of the Privy Council.
Statutes are categorised by their sequence in the reign of a Sovereign, followed by the Novaltic year in parentheses. Below are the current Statutes, linked to the Virtual Capital (access requires Virtual Guestship or higher status).
